Sean & Lauren’s Gothic Wedding at Lionsgate Event Center in Lafayette

She may have said “Yes” to the dress…

But little did everyone know what she was about to do to it to make it her dream wedding dress she’s always wanted!

The Incantation

When I met Sean and Lauren for coffee to talk about photographing their wedding day, we hit it off right away. I had briefly known Sean from the local music scene and then as a groomsman in Michael & Hilary’s wedding photographed the year prior.

We talked tattoos, music, and their witchy, Halloween theme they envisioned for their big day.

I was in!

This wasn’t my first Halloween or spooky themed wedding, but I couldn’t wait to see how all of the ideas would come together in the grand space of the Lionsgate Event Center.

Being the early planners they were, I had to wait over a year to see it – but it was well worth it.

A Bit of Witchcraft

On a Fall October Day, the Lionsgate Event Center was enchanted with gothic décor. Candles, cauldrons, skulls, broomsticks, and spells cast the grand ballroom to create the spooky, Halloween theme.

The bridesmaid’s bouquets were broomsticks.
The ring box was a coffin labeled “To Death Do Us Part.”

But nothing could top the bride’s dress.

After Lauren found and purchased her dress for the big day, her maid of honor bewitched it into the dream red wedding dress Lauren always wanted.

For the finishing touch, a red sheer cape was designed to overlay the dress for an astonishing “first look” moment.

Casting Love Spells

The ceremony held a few non-traditional surprises of its own.

The bride and groom accompanied each other down the aisle where they were to be married, where they completed a hand-fastening ceremony with their families, and then exchanged Celtic vows.

Moonlit Portraits

No wedding is complete without time with the couple to capture just the two of them on their special day. The best part about Sean & Lauren’s, the Moon rose just as we started the after-sunset portraits.

Magic was a key ingredient to this beautiful, spooky wedding.

I’m honored to have been a part of it to photograph their wedding day.
